THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of strengthening its security, most-modern digital security facility will be set up for the Legislative Assembly.
This was decided at a high-level meeting, chaired by Speaker G Karthikeyan the other day.
The Assembly complex and the building housing the Legislative Secretariat will come under the security scanner.
The entry through the Legislative Assembly gates will be restricted.
Vehicles and visitors will be allowed entry only after strict verification.
In the meeting. it was decided to strengthen the fire and rescue wing in the Assembly complex.
The fire extinguisher facility, set up at the MLA hostel, will also be updated.
The Speaker has asked the high-level police officials to submit a report on the security and fire and rescue systems in the Legislative Assembly. He also asked for a report on the possible measures and projects to be taken up for ensuring security in the future. The aim is to put in place an efficient and fool-proof security measure, the Speaker said.
DGP Jacob Punnoose, Additional DGP (Intelligence) A Hemachandran, City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham, Security DIG Vijaya Sreekumar, Fire and Rescue Services Divisional Officer R Prasad and other officials were present at the meeting.
