HYDERABAD: With the administration coming to a halt in the Telangana region on account of Sakala Janula Samme, the state government is not sparing any effort to bully the employees into calling off the strike.
After making a "bumper offer" of two days' wages for a day's work which yielded some result, the government now is turning its attention to teachers of government schools.
As the Dasara vacation begins on September 27 and ends on October 9, there is pressure on teachers to report for duty on September 26 lest the vacation period should be treated as strike period. This will make teachers not only lose pay for the period of vacation but the period will also be treated as leave. Technically, vacation is treated as period of duty and if that period is treated as leave, teachers will lose their leave to that extent.
According to sources said that the some Congress MLAs and ministers, who are intent on breaking the strike, are trying to make the employees fall in line.
Similarly, RTC employees are being persuaded to call of their strike. Though officially there were no talks, informal talks are going on with the employee unions but the indications so far are that they are determined to continue their strike.
Union leaders say that this was the reason why the MLAs and some ministers in Telangana region were remaining quiet even though the state government was issuing notices to the contract staff asking them to explain why their services should not be terminated.
