Here's how to get your old Facebook profile back
Users didn't have a way to get back their old Facebook profile pages, until now.
New Delhi: Not everyone is happy with Facebook's dramatic redesign of its users' profile pages. While Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the Timeline is a "new way to express who you are," many users want to get back the old way of expressing themselves.
Users who have opted for the new Facebook Timeline and are unsatisfied didn't have a way to get back their old profile pages, until now. The trick is to access Facebook on older versions of Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser. Since Facebook is phasing out support for older browsers, it has not made Timeline available on Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 6.
The Facebook experience on older browsers will be less than optimal. Also users being able to view their old profile doesn't mean that their friends will also get to see the same. Friends on the latest Web browsers will get to view the profiles in the Timeline view, irrespective of what the user is seeing it as.
Internet Explorer 6 and 7 usage has been dropping over the last few years but both collectively still are used by about 5-8 per cent of Internet users. This in the Facebook universe of over 800 million users may amount to about 40-64 million users.
Google had also announced that the company will stop support for older versions of Web browsers for its popular Web services such as Gmail and YouTube.
