HTC One Max may come with an iPhone 5s-like fingerprint scanner
The One Max is rumoured to have a 5.9-inch display and come powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S800 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM.
New Delhi: HTC's gigantic One Max phablet, which according to reports will come with a 5.9-inch display, is likely to have a fingerprint scanner - a feature similar to Apple's Touch ID that the company last month introduced with the launch of iPhone 5s.
Acoording to reports, the fingerprint scanner on the HTC One Max will be located between the device's sim slot and its camera, which suggests that unlike the iPhone's scanner, the HTC One Max users could be scanning only forefingers.
The presence of the scanner on the HTC One Max is claimed to be substantiated by Verizon retail staff who have used the device during training sessions. Jeremy Kessous, a poster on Android Central's forums, posted an entry citing his friend who he says works for Verizon retail. Kessous said, "My friend who works for Verizon retail sent me these pictures today. He works at a verizon in New Jersey. Two pictures of a Verizon branded HTC One Max. Not much detail here, but a comparison to an iPhone 5 on the table, and size in hand. Phone looks pretty good and at least Verizon decided to slap their logo right where HTC's is supposed to go."
The phone is rumoured to be powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S800 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The 5.9-inch display on the One Max phablet is likely to have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
It is also speculated that the HTC One Max will have a removable back. There are also pictures of the device which are doing the rounds on the Chinese social network Sina Weibo. One of the pictures shows the mammoth HTC One Max with its back panel removed and hints a fingerprint scanner.
The HTC One Max is expected to arrive this month.
