New Delhi: Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday advised people showing symptoms of dengue to immediately go for a check-up and get treatment.

Around 340 people in the national capital are said to be affected by dengue.
Azad said his ministry and the departments concerned were doing their bit to check spread of vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria and Japanese Encephalitis. He thanked the media for reporting on the dengue cases and the state of government hospitals in Delhi and adjoining
"I have asked my ministry officials to go from hospital to hospital. We are also providing all facilities to the Municipal Commissioner," Azad said.
He said that one reason for the increase in dengue cases was the unusual rains.
Azad said government dispensaries, whether run by the Centre or the state governments, have been asked to gear themselves up to meet this challenge.
"But it is not possible to reach each individual in a country which has a population of over Rs 120 crore," he said, adding people should also take precautions on their own.
