HYDERABAD: Thieves broke into a temple at Vanasthalipuram and stole silver and gold ornaments worth nearly Rs 6 lakh.

HYDERABAD: Thieves broke into a temple at Vanasthalipuram and stole silver and gold ornaments worth nearly Rs 6 lakh.
The theft took place in the Sri Lakshmi Ganesh and Sai Baba temple located at Jaya Surya Colony at Nadergul. Thieves broke open the main door lock and gained entry into the premises.
Police said the miscreants stole nearly 13 kg silver articles including an idol of Lord Ganesh and other ornaments and pooja articles from the temple. They also stole nearly one tola gold ornaments adorned on the deities.
The theft came to light on Sunday morning when the temple priest Srimannarayana went to open the temple gates. Finding the temple locks broken and articles ransacked inside, he informed the temple vice-president Sai Baba. Sai Baba later lodged a complaint police. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
