Pankaj Kapur: Vishal made me dance; it was fun
The actor was in the capital to promote his new film 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola'.

New Delhi: Even though he became a household name after appearing in television shows like 'Karamchand', Pankaj Kapur isn't very keen on going back to television. While promoting his upcoming film 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola' in the capital with the film's cast and crew, Kapur said that quality television does not exist in today's time.

"I did good shows back then. I look forward to doing something similar in case I get an opportunity and the space. Besides, TV is a very tiring medium, it gets monotonous and lacks creativity after a point of time," said Kapur.

Kapur is happy that cinema in India has changed for good in the past 10 years. "Grateful to God that cinema has in the last 10 years taken a different shape altogether and is providing me the kind of work that an actor likes to do."

In Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola', the veteran actor will be seen dancing- something that he has never done on the big screen. But Pankaj sportingly agreed to do it. "He (Vishal) made me dance and asked me to sing and even made me perform stunts. I was a bit concerned about dancing but the team made it look easy and it was fun. I had blast doing all these things. Vishal made me feel younger than I actually am," said Kapur.

This would be the third film on which Vishal Bhardwaj and Pankaj Kapur are working together. And the director and the actor admire each other's work immensely. While Vishal calls Pankaj one of the best actors in the film industry right now, Pankaj is also all praises for the director. "It is always a pleasure to work with Vishal. He is good writer, has a a hold on his story and a talented composer."

The actor who made his debut as a director with 'Mausam', wants to direct more films in the near future. "I want to direct a movie again, hopefully."
