Pune blasts: Prithviraj Chavan meets probe team
The Maharashtra CM also expressed concern over the non-functional CCTV cameras at two blast sites.
Pune: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Saturday met the investigators probing into the Pune blasts. He said all the material collected from the blast sites has been sent for forensic testing and all CCTV footages are being examined.
Chavan said he has also discussed about the maintenance of the CCTV cameras with Mayor. The CCTV cameras at two of the blast sites were found to be non-functional. This has been seen as a major loss in the investigation process.
Chavan said he has also spoken to former home minister P Chidambaram and Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. Shinde is also visiting Pune. The Chief Minister also spoke to Pune police and ATS to get update on the investigation.
Four low-intensity bomb blasts in quick succession shook Pune on Wednesday evening injuring one person. While the first three blasts took place within a radius of one km at the Jungli Maharaj Road, the fourth blast was reported from the Garware Chowk. There was also a fifth bomb which was, however, defused near a McDonalds outlet in the city.
Dayanand Patil, the sole injured person, was detained for questioning but on Friday the police said there no concrete leads that point to his involvement in the blast.
Patil was injured while carrying a bag allegedly containing a low-intensity bomb that exploded near Balgandharva Theater on the bustling Junglee Maharaj (JM) Road on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, sketches of two suspects who allegedly bought bicycles that were used in planting explosives, are being prepared by police.
