Lucknow: National-level volleyball player Arunima Sinha alias Sonu, who lost her leg after being pushed from a moving train, may have to undergo a surgery due to infection in the severed limb, hospital sources said.

As of now the dead tissues were removed, wound cleaned and fresh dressing was done, they said.

"Though her condition is stable, but due to excessive bleeding Sonu's haemoglobin level has gone down fairly due to which transfusion was done last night," the sources said.

Sonu's case is that of amputation below the knee and she has been kept in high-dependency ward, they added.

The 23-year-old player was earlier undergoing treatment at Bareilly district hospital where she was admitted on April 12, a day after being thrown out of the Padmavat Express by three men trying to rob her when she was travelling to Delhi to appear for an examination.
