US condemns terror attacks in Pakistan
Taliban suicide bombers killed 80 people on Friday, mostly soldiers, at a paramilitary academy in Pakistan.

Washington: US has condemned the "brutal" terror attacks in Pakistan that killed 80 people on Friday and said it will continue to stand with the country in their joint struggle to defeat al-Qaeda and its affiliates.

"The United States strongly condemns the brutal attack that targeted a frontier constabulary training camp in northwest Pakistan," State Department spokesman Mark Toner told reporters at his daily news conference.

"We extend our condolences to the Pakistan armed forces, as well as the families and friends of the victims," he said, adding that terrorists have shown time and again that they are the true enemy of the people and the government of Pakistan.

"We respect the nation's sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and will continue to stand with Pakistan in our joint struggle to disrupt, dismantle and defeat al-Qaeda and allied terrorist organisations," Toner said.

Taliban suicide bombers killed 80 people on Friday, mostly soldiers, at a paramilitary academy in northwest Pakistan, claiming it to be the "first revenge attack" for the slaying of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and vowed further "bloodshed" in retaliation. Over 100 people were also injured
in the strike.
