HYDERABAD: Very soon, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) will offer another mode of paying water bills to government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and later on extend it to private consumers. The remittance of water bills would be through Electronic Funds Transfer. In view of representations from various government and PSUs the HMWS&SB has decided to accept payment through National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) and Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS). This is as per the RBI guidelines.
For bills less than Rs 2 lakh the payment would be through NEFT and for the bills above Rs 2 lakhs, the payment would be through RTGS.
The electronic funds transfer is hassle-free and customers need not go to office for submitting cheques or cash.
The HMWS&SB have issued guidelines for accepting payment through NEFT or RTGS. They include, if consumer desires to pay through NEFT and RTGS, the General Manager of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of the concerned divisions should sign the NEFT, RTGS mandate form.
The form mainly contains a 15 digit account number, the first four digits are HMWS&SB Code issued by bank and is same for all customers, the next two digits represents Division Code and the remaining nine digits will be Customer Account Number (CAN).
The HMWS&SB officials have asked their general managers to send a list of CANs of such customers to the general manager (IT) immediately to flag them as NEFT, RTGS Payment Mode CANs.
