Healthy Skin is Beautiful Skin. Good looks fail to leave a great first impression if they are not complimented with beautiful skin. However, given the frantic lifestyles, work-life imbalance, pollution in metros as well as non-metros, flawless or beautiful skin is a distant dream. And given the packed-schedules it is even more difficult to chip-in even 15 minutes religiously every day for basic personal care like cleansing and moisturizing.

So how do we handle skin-care and look gorgeous without sparing time? The answer is that skin care can be achieved by taking care of our daily diet. Certain foods nurture skin internally.

Let’s take a look at some of the food items that helps us achieve a beautiful and glowing skin besides improving our overall fitness.

1) Extra Virgin Olive Oil:

Olive oil is rich in Vitamin E. It acts as an antioxidant that enhances the growth of healthy skin. The polyphenols present in olive oil may also help to destroy skin damaging free radicals.

2) Fish:

Fishes like salmon, sardine etc are abundant sources of omega 3 fatty acids that help in preventing skin disorders like eczema, psoriasis, acne etc. Salmon contains astaxanthin that aids to improve skin elasticity.

3) Berries:

Blueberries, Blackberries, Cranberries, Raspberries, Strawberries are rich sources of antioxidants. These berries contain around 85% of water content in them which helps to keep our skin moisturized. Berries can be eaten as a snack, added with breakfast or blended in a smoothie.

4) Dark chocolate:

Raw cocoa contains flavonoids, which fight free radicals and protect the skin from damage due to ultra violet rays. Dark chocolate contains minerals like Magnesium, Iron, and Manganese which helps in stress reduction, cell regeneration etc.

5) Tomato:

Lycopene a potent anti-oxidant present in tomatoes protects skin from the harmful effects of UV rays and helps in delay of aging process.

6) Green Tea:

The antioxidants in green tea protect from skin cancer. It also hydrates the body which slows down aging.

7) Avocados:

They are rich in Biotin that prevents dry skin issues. Avocados contain high amounts of vitamins A, D and E and omega-9 fatty acids which are very beneficial for healthy skin.

8) Eggs:

One of the main ingredients in eggs is sulfur. It is a nutrient that helps in the production of collagen and keratin that helps to maintain glow on your face.
