Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them came out on top at the global box office this weekend, taking in $143.3 million during its international opening weekend.

The Harry Potter spin-off, which was produced and written by J.K. Rowling, stars Eddie Redmayne as the protagonist Newt Scamander, alongside Katherine Waterson, Dan Fogler and Colin Farrell.

Another fantasy-themed movie, Disney's ‘Doctor Strange', came second in the box office estimates according to comScore, while 20th Century Fox's ‘Trolls' came in at third position.
