The Kapil Sharma Show – the show that stole TRPs on the small screen and hooked millions of Indians, saw a dip in TRPs, rise in controversies, comedians coming in-moving out and much more in the past few months. Amidst the rumors that The Kapil Sharma Show might even go off-air, provided the dwindling TRPs and Sharma’s not-renewed contract, a report in DNA states that Kapil will be taking time off for a much-needed break and the show will undergo a complete makeover.

Kapil’s health has been cited in the past few weeks as the reason for him not turning up for the shoot at times. His irrational behaviour came under the influence of excessive alcohol intake. Moreover, another reason for Kapil’s time off is cited to be his juggling between upcoming movie Firangi and his show.

Also, according to the sources, with Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar and Bharti Singh’s entry and exit stealing the news around the show, the new format will keep the visiting comedians away from the spotlight.

Welcome Back fame Raaj Shandilya, who had worked with Kapil earlier in Comedy Nights with Kapil, confirmed the news of the show’s overhaul. The writer was touted to be the force behind the success of Comedy Circus too. Talking about the show, Shaandilya was quoted as saying “The decision is yet pending, we are completing our current schedule which is until 22 June. We might go on a break or continue, but one thing is 110 per cent sure, even if we go on a break we will be back with a bang. I can say that we are preparing for a long jump.”

Well, if these rumours are to be believed, then it is indeed a prudent decision on Kapil’s and the producers’ part. It is better to re-think the strategy and revamp the concept to make Sharma rule the idiot box once again.
