The stalemate in Tamil Nadu's ruling party, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), continues. The AIADMK's story still awaits a happy ending with the O Panneerselvam faction sticking to its two conditions — a CBI probe into Jayalalithaa's death, expelling of VK Sasikala and her family from the party.

The ruling AIADMK (Amma) faction on Friday announced setting up of a committee under party's senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP R Vaithilingam to oversee merger talks between the camps headed by Chief Minister K Palaniswami and his predecessor O Panneerselvam.
The committee will be headed by party's senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP R Vaithilingam.
"The Chief Minister has said Vaithilingam will be here at the party office. We will join him as and when required. As far as we are concerned, we want to redeem the 'Two Leaves' symbol and remain united," said Local Administration Minister SP Velumani .
The AIADMK Amma faction went into a huddle under Chief Minister K Palaniswami.
The CM and his ministers met at AIADMK headquarters. They are expected to discuss demands raised by the OPS camp.
Palaniswami was joined by his cabinet colleagues D Jayakumar, C Ve Shanmugham, S P Velumani, Rajya Sabha MP R Vaithilingam among others at party headquarters.

The stalemate in Tamil Nadu's ruling party, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, continues to hold the state in suspense with the faction led by former chief minister O Panneerselvam (OPS) toughening its stand on a merger between his faction and the one led by current CM Edapadi K Palaniswami (EPS).
The OPS camp's demands - that the merger talks can only start if its core demands on a CBI probe into Jaya's death and the Sasikala family's ouster from party affairs be formalised - - is thus more power play. They have an upper hand and are trying to see how much they can push forth on this.
A top leader in the Panneerselvam camp, KP Munusamy, had said on Thursday the first demand was getting the resignation of Sasikala and Dinakaran and later their formal expulsion along with 30 other members of their family.
The Panneerselvam camp has also sought a CBI probe into the circumstances leading to former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's death on December 5 last year.
