In an article in the CPI(M) mouthpiece, the Left leader said that abstaining from vote would be politically damaging and unacceptable for the party.

New Delhi: CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Monday defended the party's decision to support Pranab Mukherjee's candidature for the President poll, saying the CPM had factored in the possibility of a Congress-TMC rift before deciding to support Pranab.
