New Delhi: Barely two years after the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, registered a record-breaking victory in Delhi Assembly elections, the results of polls to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi ( MCD) have served a major blow to the party’s quest to wrest control of the Delhi civic body. The BJP, which has been ruling the MCD for 10 years, successfully fought anti-incumbency and allegations of corruption with a slick election campaign to win a third straight term by a huge margin.
The AAP was quick to blame ‘faulty EVMs’ for the party’s loss, alleging it was an “EVM wave and not a Modi wave”. Twitter, as usual, was unsparing in criticism of Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP for squarely blaming EVMs for the loss. Here’s a look:
BJP is using AAP's jhaadu to sweep #MCDelections2017. So in essence, it's Kejriwal's victory.
