Google just shot its own foot when the announced the starting price of their Pixel smartphones. Starting at $649 and in India at Rs 57,000, people's android phone is no longer affordable. For all those who made jokes about selling a Kidney to buy an iPhone, you'll probably have to sell your other one to get a Pixel that comes to India on October 13.
But there are existing phones in the market that are better in every sense on paper and also on convenience. One such phone is the OnePlus 3. And we at News18 Tech get you a comparison between the OnePlus 3 and Google Pixel.
1. Build Quality
Both OnePlus 3 and Google Pixel/Pixel XL come with a screen size of 5.5-inches. The difference is that OnePlus 3 offers a 1080p Full HD display, whereas Pixel offers a modern and more crisp Quad-HD display. Though an HD screen is good enough in a 5.5-inch size, if you like crunching numbers the Pixel is the choice for you.

The OnePlus 3 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with a colossal 6GB RAM, Whereas the Pixel phones will come with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB RAM. The standard storage option on the OnePlus 3 is 64GB and the Pixel offers you two storage options of 32GB or 128GB. Both the devices lack expandable storage. On paper both these android phones are superperformers and it's neck to neck on the processing speed front.
OnePlus 3 runs on Oxygen OS that's placed on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS from Google. This is nearly a stock android experience. But if you are looking for a pure android experience, then the Pixel makes more sense with Android 7.1 Nougat OS and Google's AI that comes built in.
Watch: OnePlus 3 Review
The OnePlus 3 offers a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. On Paper it's more in megapixel count than the Pixel phone. Google pixel offers a 12.3-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Google also talked about the Pixel's camera performance, touting DxOMark's rating of the Pixel camera as the highest score for a mobile camera ever. But as past has been a witness these numbers really don't account for much when camera is put to use in real-world conditions. IN reality both the cameras are upto the mark for modern day usage.
The battery on the OnePlus 3 might just be the biggest deterrent in choosing the OnePlus 3 over the Google Pixel. The 3,000mAh battery on paper is less than 2,770mAh on Pixel and 3,450mAh on Pixel XL. But, OnePlus 3 comes with a revolutionary Dash charging that's super fast in charging the phone. The OnePlus 3 also lasts easily a day and a half with average usage.

The Google Pixel will come at a starting price of Rs 57,000 in India. Google Nexus was known for its affordability and stock android experience. But the OnePlus 3 at Rs 27,999 is almost half of the Google Pixel price. This is the ultimate nail in the coffin for Google Pixel in India as ours is a very price sensitive market.
Google has tried to do an Apple here, but the move has definitely backfired for them even before the phones have reached the Indian market.
