Chinese smartphone maker 'Kult' has come up with a new smartphone offering for the Indian market. The new device, named Beyond, has been launched by the company at a pocket-friendly price of Rs 6,999. The new Kult Beyond is a 4G VoLTE-enabled smartphone. The smartphone is a 'Made in India' smartphone by the manufacturer under 'Make in India' project, an initiative launched by the Government of India to encourage national, as well as multi-national companies to manufacture their products in India. Read as we review the latest Kult offering after a couple of weeks' usage.

What’s Cool?

Kult Beyond certainly scores good marks for its design. The black colour of the smartphone looks classic. Both power button and volume keys on the right are conveniently placed for single-handed operation. Kult Beyond runs on a 1.64-bit quad-core 64-bit processor and the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS which is best in class and delivers smooth performance. The phone boxes 32GB of internal storage that can only be stretched up to an additional 32GB via a microSD card. It supports 3 Slots: 2 SIM both micro + 1 Micro SD.

The phone is backed by a 3000mAh battery, which lasts for a day on a single charge which is quite decent in this segment. Talking about its essential feature, the phone features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and there’s a 13-megapixel camera for selfies and video chat. The picture quality of both the cameras is up to the mark. Both front and rear cameras offer LED Flash to brighten dark images. The camera also comes equipped with beauty and other features such as Vistoso, an app which is filled with art filters which turn your seemingly normal photos into amazing artworks.

Speaking about its display, Kult Beyond sports a 5.2-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. If you love playing games or watching videos, then this smartphone will suit your needs. The fingerprint sensor just beneath the camera can unlock the device and open select applications, answer calls and even play or pause music. The shape of the sensor is similar to that of the camera, which gives an overall smart look to the smartphone.

What’s not so cool?

The sound quality of the Kult Beyond is not up to the mark and in case you watch videos without earphones, you might just get disappointed with the whole experience. On the other hand, the memory offering is decent but it can’t be further stretched beyond 64 GB in total.

At its price point, Kult Beyond may have to compete with Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Moto C Plus to sustain in the market. Comparing the device to the Moto C Plus, the Moto smartphone takes the lead on the battery front with its massive 4000 mAH battery, 1000 maH more than what is offered by Kult Beyond. The Kult Beyond, in comparison with the Redmi 4, lags behind in Camera performance, RAM and storage offering, battery backup, as well as the latest OS update.

Verdict:

Kult Beyond tries to offer everything that an average smartphone user usually requires, that too, at a very attractive price. The overall performance of the smartphone is far better than what one would expect at a single glance. However, with competitors like Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Moto C Plus, Kult Beyond might just be restricted to its own niche in the Indian market.
