At least six persons were killed and 14 others injured when a powerful bomb exploded at Maligaon area in Guwahati on Monday.
Six people were killed and 15 others injured in the blast which took place at 1400 hours IST in Guwahati.
Several vehicles and two-wheelers caught fire immediately after the explosion.
Authorities suspect the hand of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) rebels behind the blast.
The blast site was cordoned off by the security forces suspecting that there could be more bombs.
An alert was sounded in the state after the blast particularly in view of visits by a host of Central political leaders for campaigning in the state.
