Advani started his career as an Assistant director, with Sudhir Mishra's 'Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin', for which he also co-wrote the screenplay.
Nikhil Advani also assisted Karan Johar in films like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'.
