Ben Zook wrote the original draft. Adam Sandler brought in 'Seinfeld' and 'Saturday Night Live' writer Steve Koren to rewrite the original script with him.
Comedy writing veteran and frequent Sandler collaborator Robert Smigel came in later and did a rewrite of the script.
The film is produced under Sandler's production company Happy Madison.
The movie has been shot in Los Angeles, and on the cruise ship Allure of the Seas, before its maiden voyage in December 2011.
