Bollywood actress Tabassum Hashmi, better known as Tabu, turns 41 on November 4, 2012.
Not many know that Bollywood actress Tabu is Shabana Azmi's niece and actress Farah Naaz's younger sister.
Tabu made her big screen debut as a lead actress with 'Coolie No. 1'. In this Telugu film she was cast opposite Venkatesh.
Tabu won her first National award for her critically acclaimed film 'Maachis'. She played a Punjabi woman in this 1996 film.
In 1998, during the shooting of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain', she was charged with poaching two blackbucks in Kankani, along with Salman Khan, Sonali Bendre and others. However, the charges against her were soon dropped.
Tabu was born in Hyderabad. She studied at the St Anns high school in Hyderabad. After that, she moved to Mumbai and studied at St Xavier's College.
