The film has been directed by Scott Derrickson and introduces the Sorcerer Supreme Stephen Strange to the MCU fans.
The film's cast includes one Oscar winner: Tilda Swinton, and three Oscar nominees Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Rachel McAdams.
The story revolves around a talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. .
Morgan Freeman, Ken Watanabe and Bill Nighy were considered for the role of The Ancient One.
In the comics, the Ancient One is an old man; in this film, the Ancient One is played by a woman. This was a deliberate decision as Scott Derrickson felt the Ancient One was a title rather than a person.

Benedict Cumberbatch states that the spiritualism of Doctor Strange is what appeals to him the most about the role.
