Patna: In a horrific incident in Bihar's Arwal district, about 80 km from Patna, a 20-year-old daily wage worker had to pay a heavy price for failing to pay a debt of Rs 300. The daily wage worker, Ram Sagar Chandravanshi, was attacked and one of his hands chopped off after he refused to work for free for a couple of contractors in lieu of Rs 300 that he owed a money lender.

Following his refusal, a group of local people attacked him with an axe. His other hand was also damaged in the attack.

"They blindfolded me and chopped my hands. I don't know what happened after that," says Chandravanshi.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said that action will be taken against those responsible.

"This incident has come to our knowledge, and the DIG has created a Task Force. The persons responsible will not be spared."

Chandravanshi is currently undergoing treatment at the Patna Medical College Hospital in Patna. The victim alleged that the police refused to lodge an FIR initially, with the Superintendent of Police dismissing it as a concocted story.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured of a fair investigation into the tragic incident.

"This incident has come to our knowledge and the DIG has created a Task Force. The persons responsible will not be spared," said Kumar.
