TDP's Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy won this seat in the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections beating the BJP candidate by a margin of 7444 (4.4%) votes. Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy polled 1,69,009 which was 43.32% of the total votes polled.
