In the 2014 Odisha state Assembly elections, Mahidhar Rana of BJD won in this seat defeating INC's candidate by a margin of 25,366 votes which was 21.97% of the total votes polled. Mahidhar Rana polled a total of 1,15,436 (44.68%) votes.
BJD's Bhagban Kanhor won this seat in the 2009 Odisha Assembly elections beating the BJP candidate by a margin of 14453 (14.05%) votes. Bhagban Kanhor polled 1,02,899 which was 44.68% of the total votes polled.
