In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Khandapada, recorded a voter turnout of 74.6%. The voter turnout in the 2014 Assembly elections was 80.73% and in 2009, 72.67% of Khandapada's voters came out to elect their Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).
In the 2014 Odisha state Assembly elections, Anubhav Patnaik of BJD won in this seat defeating AOP's candidate by a margin of 601 votes which was 0.46% of the total votes polled. Anubhav Patnaik polled a total of 1,31,940 (54.71%) votes.
BJD's Siddharth Sekhar Singh won this seat in the 2009 Odisha Assembly elections beating the INC candidate by a margin of 16814 (14.92%) votes. Siddharth Sekhar Singh polled 1,12,689 which was 54.71% of the total votes polled.
