BJD's Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak won this seat in the 2009 Odisha Assembly elections beating the BJP candidate by a margin of 19595 (13.55%) votes. Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak polled 1,44,657 which was 48.69% of the total votes polled.
