In the 2014 Odisha state Assembly elections, Kengam Surya Rao of INC won in this seat defeating BJD's candidate by a margin of 1,419 votes which was 1.05% of the total votes polled. Kengam Surya Rao polled a total of 1,35,001 (51.1%) votes.
BJD's K Narayana Rao won this seat in the 2009 Odisha Assembly elections beating the ADMK candidate by a margin of 14941 (13.05%) votes. K Narayana Rao polled 1,14,526 which was 51.1% of the total votes polled.
