In the 2014 Odisha state Assembly elections, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo of BJP won in this seat defeating BJD's candidate by a margin of 13,653 votes which was 7.45% of the total votes polled. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo polled a total of 1,83,295 (40.31%) votes.
BJP's Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo won this seat in the 2009 Odisha Assembly elections beating the SAD candidate by a margin of 19382 (12.21%) votes. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo polled 1,58,769 which was 40.31% of the total votes polled.
