24. Martam-Rumtek is an Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in East region of Sikkim and falls in East Sikkim district. Sikkim is located in North East India. Seat is reserved for Bhutia-Lepcha.
This constituency has 14,512 voters of which are male and are female and voters of the third gender.
In the 2019 Sikkim Assembly elections, Martam-Rumtek, recorded a voter turnout of 78.98%. The voter turnout in the 2014 Assembly elections was 83.06% and in 2009, 85.29% of Martam-Rumtek's voters came out to elect their Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).
In the 2014 Sikkim state Assembly elections, Mechung Bhutia of SKM won in this seat defeating SDF's candidate by a margin of 479 votes which was 3.97% of the total votes polled. Mechung Bhutia polled a total of 12,053 (64.04%) votes.
SDF's Menlom Lepcha won this seat in the 2009 Sikkim Assembly elections beating the BSP candidate by a margin of 3365 (33.71%) votes. Menlom Lepcha polled 9,981 which was 64.04% of the total votes polled.
Martam-Rumtek went to the polls in Phase 1 of the 2019 Sikkim Assembly polls on Thursday, April 11, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
