In the 2019 Sikkim Assembly elections, Melli, recorded a voter turnout of 79.3%. The voter turnout in the 2014 Assembly elections was 84.57% and in 2009, 83.83% of Melli's voters came out to elect their Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).
In the 2014 Sikkim state Assembly elections, Tulshi Devi Rai of SDF won in this seat defeating SKM's candidate by a margin of 4,249 votes which was 37.37% of the total votes polled. Tulshi Devi Rai polled a total of 11,371 (67.48%) votes.
SDF's Tulshi Devi Rai won this seat in the 2009 Sikkim Assembly elections beating the BSP candidate by a margin of 3853 (41.22%) votes. Tulshi Devi Rai polled 9,347 which was 67.48% of the total votes polled.
Melli went to the polls in Phase 1 of the 2019 Sikkim Assembly polls on Thursday, April 11, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
