In the 2019 Sikkim Assembly elections, Namcheybung, recorded a voter turnout of 79.93%. The voter turnout in the 2014 Assembly elections was 85.19% and in 2009, 86.49% of Namcheybung's voters came out to elect their Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).
In the 2014 Sikkim state Assembly elections, Bek Bahadur Rai of SDF won in this seat defeating SKM's candidate by a margin of 622 votes which was 5.66% of the total votes polled. Bek Bahadur Rai polled a total of 10,995 (63.37%) votes.
SDF's Bek Bdr Rai won this seat in the 2009 Sikkim Assembly elections beating the INC candidate by a margin of 2923 (31.52%) votes. Bek Bdr Rai polled 9,274 which was 63.37% of the total votes polled.
Namcheybung went to the polls in Phase 1 of the 2019 Sikkim Assembly polls on Thursday, April 11, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
