In the 2019 Sikkim Assembly elections, Namthang-Rateypani, recorded a voter turnout of 80.8%. The voter turnout in the 2014 Assembly elections was 83.53% and in 2009, 82.7% of Namthang-Rateypani's voters came out to elect their Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).
In the 2014 Sikkim state Assembly elections, Tilu Gurung of SDF won in this seat defeating SKM's candidate by a margin of 1,155 votes which was 10.46% of the total votes polled. Tilu Gurung polled a total of 11,046 (65.76%) votes.
SDF's Tilu Gurung won this seat in the 2009 Sikkim Assembly elections beating the BSP candidate by a margin of 3211 (35.26%) votes. Tilu Gurung polled 9,106 which was 65.76% of the total votes polled.
Namthang-Rateypani went to the polls in Phase 1 of the 2019 Sikkim Assembly polls on Thursday, April 11, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
