5. Rinchenpong is an Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in West region of Sikkim and falls in West Sikkim district. Sikkim is located in North East India. Seat is reserved for Bhutia-Lepcha.
This constituency has 12,515 voters of which are male and are female and voters of the third gender.
In the 2019 Sikkim Assembly elections, Rinchenpong, recorded a voter turnout of 84.02%. The voter turnout in the 2014 Assembly elections was 85.86% and in 2009, 86.96% of Rinchenpong's voters came out to elect their Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).
In the 2014 Sikkim state Assembly elections, Karma Sonam Lepcha of SDF won in this seat defeating SKM's candidate by a margin of 4,456 votes which was 41.47% of the total votes polled. Karma Sonam Lepcha polled a total of 10,746 (72.69%) votes.
SDF's Dawa Norbu Takarpa won this seat in the 2009 Sikkim Assembly elections beating the SP candidate by a margin of 4293 (48.47%) votes. Dawa Norbu Takarpa polled 8,857 which was 72.69% of the total votes polled.
Rinchenpong went to the polls in Phase 1 of the 2019 Sikkim Assembly polls on Thursday, April 11, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
