Perfect Brunch For a Lazy Weekend: Hiatus

Isn't brunch one of the best things you can do over the weekend? Well I certainly think so. There is no hurryno pressure of quick breakfast and no formality of a power lunch. All you have is a leisurely afternoon and a beautiful spread to dig your teeth into.

We were at the Hiatus New Clarion Collection Qutub Hotel New Delhi. A beautiful sunny day and I settled in with a fruit based cocktail. It was a crowded Sunday but the place only looked happy. Smiling faces always, a reassurance that the food is good. There was live singing on the day I was there. The spread offers fresh salads with options of dressings. Don't get too adventurous though, I tried the coffee dressing and realized I didn't quite have the taste for it. An array of different cheeses to choose from with a wine off the wine walls lining the room.

There are live cooking stations where you can get fresh omelets stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and other gorgeous ingredients. There is fresh pasta with a choice of sauce too. But I gave that a miss and gravitated towards the antipasti.

Tiny portions of the antipasto were just pop-in-the mouth delicious. Beautiful thin Italian bread with a light drizzle of olive oil, holding on top a gorgeous slice of grilled aubergine- a very clever dish balancing the crunch of the bread and the softness of the vegetable.

The dip to go for me for the aubergine dip with olive oilabsolutely yum!

There was a fresh ham and lettuce salad, stuffed with apricots with a generous drizzle of the olive oil with baby tomatoes. It looked absolutely

Stunning and had very delicate flavours.

The shredded chicken salad with lightly tossed baby potatoes, baby tomatoes, beans and shallots was crunchy and fresh

Don't miss the Cous Cous salad when you are there. Light and citrusy, it is just the perfect thing for a hot summer afternoon- tangy and very playful on the palate.

We were brought a fresh oven roast pizza, done to perfection. The base thin and crunchy and the topping generous and delicious.

No meal is complete without dessert; and brunch definitely not.

There was a lot to choose from, Tiramisu and brownies to passion fruit mousse to profit rolls that looked like Christmas on a plate- excellent end to a great brunch. I recommend the brunch at Hiatus. It is good food, good ambiance, and value for money and we all deserve that once a week at least!
