MI vs UPW Highlights, WPL 2023 Eliminator: Wong, Sciver-Brunt Guide Mumbai Indians to Final With Thumping Win Over UP Warriorz

Isabelle Wong (4/15) recorded the first hat-trick of the Women’s Premier League after Nat Sciver-Brunt’s brutal 38-ball 72 as Mumbai Indians stormed into the final with a 72-run drubbing of UP Warriorz in the Eliminator on Friday. The final of the inaugural WPL will be played between the two best sides that occupied the top two spots of the points table with 12 points each, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, on Sunday at the Brabourne Stadium.

Having set a daunting 183-run target, Mumbai Indians blew away what had been a resolute top and middle-order of the UP Warriorz, with Wong producing a superb hat-trick in the 13th over to seal the outcome in favour of her side.

Done and Dusted as Mumbai Indians are the second finalists of WPL 2023 as they registered a thumping 72-run win over UP Warriorz here at the Eliminatory. Saika Ishaque claimed the final wicket of the match as Rajeshwari Gayakwad was trapped in front of wicket. A comprehensive win by Mumbai Indians as they will face Delhi Capitals on Sunday at Brabourne Stadium. Mumbai Indians (182/4) beat UP Warriroz (110) by 72 runs to enter WPL 2023 final

Issy Wong finished her spell with another terrific over as only two runs came off it. She ended up with excellent figures of 4/15 in her four overs.

OUT! Deepti Sharma departs for 16 as Hayley Matthews gets another wicket here. Excellent diving catch from Saika Ishaque. It was a tricky one as the umpire went upstairs to check it. It turned out to be a clear catch as UP Warriroz are marching towards a big defeat. UPW 94/8 in 13.5 overs

Amanjot Kaur into the attack and only three runs came off the over. Deepti Sharma needs to give able support to Kiran Navgire here as the required run rate is very high now and the pressure will mount on the batters soon. UPW 66/4 in 10 overs

Kiran Navgire is fighting a lone battle for the UP Warriorz. She charged down the ground to hit Hayley Matthews for a four. However, only five runs came off the last two overs. The pressure is mounting on Warriorz as the required run rate is 12 now. UPW 63/4 in 10 overs

OUT! Nat Sciver-Brunt gets the big fish here as Grace Harris departs for 14. She flicks it to get a big shot but was caught by Issy Wong. Massive trouble for UP Warriroz now as their biggest match-winner is taking a long walk back towards pavilion. UPW 56/4 in 7.5 overs

Kiran Navgire got a big lifeline here as Hayley Matthews dropped her tricky catch near boundary rope. 5 runs came off Amelia Kerr’s over. The required run rate is over 10 and UP Warriorz need to keep a tab on that. UPW 51/3 in 7 overs

A good over for UP Warriorz after a long time as three boundaries and a six came off it. Kiran Navgire looks like a woman on a mission here as she charged down the ground to send the ball over the line with immense power. 20 runs came off the over. UPW 46/3 in 6 overs

RUN OUT! Things are turning bad to worse for UP Warriorz now as Tahlia McGrath departs for just 6. Excellent throw from Amarjot Kaur as McGrath was a bit short. It was a risky single and McGrath paid the price for it. UPW 21/3 in 4.1 overs

The onus is on Tahlia McGrath to revive the innings and set the platform for this chase now. She has already hit a boundary but UP Warriroz need her to play responsibly here as one more wicket from here will pin them down in the chase.  UPW 21/2 in 4 overs
