New Delhi: This day, a lot of people might not be aware of, is a special day for Sachin Tendulkar. This was the very day when a 15-year-old Tendulkar burst on to the national scene in 1988, by cracking a hundred in his debut first-class match against Gujarat. The Master Blaster smashed an unbeaten hundred at the Wankhede Stadium to become country's youngest first-class centurion.

Riding on Tendulkar's ton, Mumbai reached really close on winning the match, but fell short ten runs short of the 53-run target, when the day's play ended.

Also, this day in 2004, Sachin equaled Sunil Gavaskar's record of 34 Test tons, as he scored 248 against Bangladesh at Dhaka. This incidentally remained his highest Test score. Thereafter, Tendulkar managed to reach 51 Test hundreds, a record no one has come close to braking. India registered a comfortable victory over the neighbours, and Irfan Pathan took 11 wickets in the match.
