19th December 2010: Sachin Tendulkar Scores His 50th Test Ton

New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar, in his career, has created certain records that don't seem to be getting broken anytime soon. One such record was of his 51 Test centuries, in a career that spanned over 20 years. On this day, way back in 2010, Sachin notched up his 50th Test ton against South Africa, at their home.

India were in South Africa for a Test series, and the former did not start well in the 1st innings of the first Test. The Indians were bundled out for a paltry 136. In reply, Proteas were at their best and posted 620 runs in reply. With India staring at an outright defeat, Sachin Tendulkar rose to the occasion, and played a brilliant innings of 111 runs, his 50th ton. This was the very match, where Jacques Kallis scored his first double ton of his career.

Though Sachin's efforts were not enough to save India from an innings and 25 run defeat, but it did set the tone for the rest of the series. In the next match at Durban, India were better prepared, and went on to win at Durban.
