Opener Kusal Perera scored a brilliant 99 and Thirimanne slammed 81 to power Sri Lanka (225/2) to an 8-wicket (D/L) win over West Indies (214) and take an assailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series.

If not for Ajantha Mendis holding nerves, Sri Lanka would have gone into the second ODI of the three-match home series against West Indies trailing 0-1. But a shaky one-wicket win will keep the hosts on their toes in Colombo on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka had things under control for most part of the rain-shortened 26-over game until Sunil Narine came into the match to give the home team, chasing 160 to win, a scare.
