Commenting on the spat between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli - which eventually led to Kumble's stepping down as coach of the Indian cricket team - ace shooter Abhinav Bindra had a piece of advice for Indian captain Kohli.

Abhinav Bindra tweeted saying, My biggest teachers was coach Uwe.I hated him!But stuck with him for 20 years. He always told me things I did not want to hear.#justsaying

Gutta too replied to the tweet, saying: Sometimes that's the important part of training 🙈 I remember my sir doing the same...he still does it!!!

It was a subtle message to Kohli and the team, as Kumble was often accused of being a strict headmaster who had a lot of rules.

Anil Kumble's one-year stint as the coach of the Indian cricket team was hugely successful but the legendary skipper has opted to leave the team and step down from the position. Kumble was offered a two-week extension by BCCI CEO Rahul Johri but he refused to take it.

Kumble on Tuesday night in a Facebook post confirmed that it was due to captain Kohli's reservations with his "style" and about him continuing as the head coach that he had decided to move on.

"I was surprised since I had always respected the role boundaries between captain and coach," read the post, adding that the BCCI had attempted to resolve the misunderstandings between the captain and him, but "it was apparent that the partnership was untenable and I, therefore, believe it is best for me to move on".

In the light of these 'reservations', I believe it is best I hand over this responsibility to whomever the CAC and BCCI deem fit, the post further read.
