With off-field matters taking precedence over on-field performance, Indian cricket is in need of a cracking show by its team at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Wednesday, where - weather permitting - the visitors take on England in the second ODI after a washout in the first.

India captain MS Dhoni and the country's governing body BCCI don't seem to be on the same page ever since the appointment of Ravi Shastri as Director and sweeping changes in the coaching staff, especially on the issue of Duncan Fletcher continuing as chief coach.

That has left the Indian fans wondering if ever the team could overturn its deplorable recent overseas record and defend the World Cup next year in Australia and New Zealand. Thus, a morale-boosting win is the need of the hour - to put cricket in front and everything else on the backburner.
