Day 1 round-up: Hurt from being axed from India's limited-overs squad, Ishant Sharma once again breathed fire in New Zealand with a six-wicket haul that destroyed the visitors on the opening day of the second Test, which ended with India just 92 runs away from NZ's score thanks to Shikhar Dhawan's 71 not out.
Ishant followed up his nine-wicket match-haul in the Auckland Test with another spirited spell of 6 for 51 that was superbly supported by Mohammad Shami who finished with figures of 4 for 66. That helped India bowl the Kiwis out for just 192 after skipper MS Dhoni put New Zealand in to bat on a greenish track.
India's reply was then led by Dhawan, who looks to be heading towards his second consecutive Test century in NZ, even though the visitors suffered an early blow when Murali Vijay was dismissed in the second over by Tim Southee.
