Champions Trophy 2017: India - Road to Semi-Finals

London: India have had a topsy turvy campaign so far in the Champions Trophy. They won two and lost one en route to the last four. Let us see their Road to the Semi Finals:

India won by 124 runs against Pakistan via Duckworth Lewis

In a game interrupted by showers, India oozed class and confidence against their arch-rivals. Virat Kohli and his men knew the importance of starting off well in a tournament and therefore when they were sent in to bat first they did not take any undue risks early on.

It paid off as all top four batsmen slammed half-centuries and India propelled themselves to 319. Pakistan never quite got into the chase as they lost wickets in crucial intervals and eventually lost the game by a big margin. Yuvraj Singh picked up the man-of-the-match for his whirlwind 53.

India lost to Sri Lanka by seven wickets

India batted first again in this game and got off to a brilliant start with the openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma putting on a stand of 138 runs. But the middle order failed to get going and instead of reaching somewhere around the 360 run mark, they had to settle for just 321.

Sri Lanka lost Dickwella early but then kept on stringing big partnerships and eventually won the game quite comfortably.

India beat South Africa by 8 wickets

The loss against Sri Lanka was a wake up call for the Indians. The defending champions now had to win their virtual quarterfinal against World No.1 side South Africa to make the last four.

India responded in style with a brilliant bowling performance to bowl out South Africa for just 191. Both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets each to rattle the opposition.

In reply, India had an early set back as Rohit Sharma was out caught behind. But that didn’t stop the likes of Kohli and Yuraj to chase down the target with 72 balls and 8 wickets to spare.

Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the performer of the match for his 2/28.
