Two defeats in three games can seriously jeopardize a team's chances of qualifying for the semi-finals in the Champions League Twenty20, which means the reigning IPL champions Mumbai Indians can't afford to slip again when they take on Highveld Lions in the Group A encounter at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday.
Mumbai lost their opening match to Rajasthan Royals, and their second game against Otago Volts was abandoned in Ahmedabad, where heavy rain led to a double washout. And with weather remaining inclement in the Gujarat city, this match was shifted to Jaipur in the eleventh hour.
Lions are travelling in the same boat as Mumbai, having lost one match while the other against Perth Scorchers was washed out - which means both Mumbai and Lions have two points from two matches so far and need a win to stay in the hunt for a place in the last four.
