A well-set Virat Kohli changed gears to put on a complete masterclass during the third T20 against England in Ahmedabad. Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who was mighty impressed with the skipper’s knock, came up with a unique comparison in his lauding phrase. The cricketer praised Kohli’s innings, saying, “He starts like a Corolla and finishes like a Ferrari!” He compared it in reference to the two contrasting edges of Kohli’s unbeaten 77 against on Tuesday. The 35-year-old batsman posted it in a tweet on March 16.

Karthik, who has made his debut in the Sky Sports commentary box this series, defined Kohli’s innings as one of the most entertaining one in recent memory. “My goodness, the last bit was unbelievable!” he said on Sky Sports. Continuing his admiration for Kohli, Karthik noted that there is a reason why the former is the best batsman in the world. Karthik complimented the India captain for his awareness in the game. He said that Kohli’s greatest strength is his ability to move around the crease and foresee what the bowler is going to deliver almost before he does it.

India’s top-order crumbled in the third T20. Losing early wickets to the opponents, the hosts had gotten off to a scratchy start. Putting to bat first, India lost its star openers in the likes of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma for ducks in the first half of the innings. Kohli continued his form from where he left in the last game. Dropped down to number 4, he brought up his second consecutive fifty taking India to a respectable total of 156 at the end of first innings. Kohli’s gourmet hitting against opposition’s hostile fast bowler Mark Wood changed the course of the innings. The fourth and fifth T20s will be played on March 18 and March 20, respectively.
