Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry continued her phenomenal run in the ongoing season of the Women’s Big Bash League as she led Sydney Sixers to an 11-run win over the Brisbane Heat at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.

The skipper went on to score her second century of the season, smashing an unbeaten 103 from just 64 balls – second in six innings, inclusive of 10 fours and five sixes. And she did so in exhilarating fashion.

Being on 93 with two balls remaining in the innings, Perry clobbered a six over midwicket followed by a sweep to fine leg for a boundary to bring up the three-figure mark and helped her side reach 166 for three at the end of their 20 overs.

The all-rounder has now hit 419 runs in the tournament so far, at an incredible average 209.5, having also hit three half-centuries.

Heat would have hoped to restrict the opposition for a low total after getting the dangerous Alyssa Healy for two in the third over, but Perry took charge of the innings and batted the visitors out of the game.

The Sixers bowlers had not issues defending the target, as Dane van Niekerk and Erin Burns claimed two wickets each to restrict the Heat to 155 for seven.

With this win, the Sixers now join their city rivals Sydney Thunder on top of the league table on 10 points.
