In a horrific incident, which took place during the Natwest T20 Blast game between Notts Outlaws and Birmingham Bears, fast bowler Luke Fletcher suffered what looked like a serious head injury.
Fletcher's first ball was hit straight back by Sam Hain and it struck him straight on the head in his follow-through.
The 28-year-old was soon on his feet and after initial treatment at the ground, taken to hospital in an ambulance.
All the players were left completely stunned by the incident, and the game was stopped for close to 30 minutes.
Hope Luke Fletcher is ok, he couldn't do anything. Hope it's just a couple of stitches and he's ok. pic.twitter.com/4C9YnaVq8Y— Marvin Rice (@MarvRice) July 8, 2017

He is likely to be kept in the hospital for a couple of days, as the doctors will check for concussion.
This is again likely to bring the issue of players safety back into the limelight, with bats becoming increasingly heavier and having a bigger sweet spot. The bowlers are in increasing danger of getting hit,
