Former India cricketer Sarandeep Singh recently spilled some beans about Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s off the field personality. The former national selector revealed that even though Kohli may come across as aggressive, but contrary to public opinion, he is very down-to-earth. Singh shared a surprising anecdote of the megastar’s humility while debunking presumptions about his persona.
In a conversation with Sportskeeda, the ex-selector for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)shed light on Kohli's humble nature. Singh illustrated that he and his wife don’t have any servants at home. Kohli, who is an excellent host, always sits with his guests and chats with them. He and his wife, Anushka Sharma will serve food to everyone. All the other members of the team have immense respect for him. He's very strong-willed and down-to-earth.
Singh went on to speak about Kohli's attitude during selection meetings. He spoke at length about his behaviour towards the selectors. He stated that Kohli always takes into consideration the opinions of those around him, is a good listener and is very easy to work with. Kohli, he added, is always charged up on the field and seems arrogant, but off the field, he is a completely different character, extremely polite. He explained that the 32-year-old might seem that way because of the weight of expectations on him. He is the one who makes decisions in the heat of the moment and handles the pressure on the ground.
Currently, the Men In Blue are gearing for the Day-Night Test match against England squad. After the first two Test games at Chepauk, the four-match series is tied at 1-1.
